If you are reading this, congratulations: you survived the post-holiday drought. You also survived the heartbreak of learning that GTA VI has been pushed to November. But dry your eyes, because while Rockstar is busy polishing water physics, the first half of 2026 is quietly stacking up to be one of the weirdest, most diverse gaming calendars in years.
From anime vampires dropping today to Hideo Kojima getting weird in June, here is your definitive roadmap for the next six months.
January: The “Anime Souls” Awakening
Let’s start with the immediate future. As of today, January 30th, Code Vein 2 is officially out.
Bandai Namco finally remembered they own this IP. If you missed the first one, it was basically “Dark Souls but everyone is an attractive anime vampire.” The sequel promises more edge, more masks, and a character creator so detailed I fully expect to spend my first three streams just adjusting my protagonist’s eyebrows.
Also out this month was Arknights: Endfield (the gacha that actually plays like a real game) and BrokenLore: Unfollow, which I can confirm is terrifying if you enjoy the sensation of being stalked by social media algorithms.
February: Remakes, Yakuza, and Zombies
February is usually where bank accounts go to die, and 2026 is no exception.
Feb 11: Yakuza Kiwami 3 Sega has finally completed the “Kiwami” trilogy. We are going back to Okinawa with the Dragon Engine. For the uninitiated, this is the “Dad Simulator” entry of the series. Expect heart-wrenching orphanage drama interspersed with smashing bicycles over people’s heads.
Feb 27: Resident Evil Requiem Capcom is being cryptic about this one, but rumors suggest an open-world approach to the survival horror formula. If it runs well, it’s a Game of the Year contender. If it doesn’t, it’s going to be a meme factory. Either way, we win.
March: The “High Risk” Month
March is bringing two games that feel like massive gambles.
March 5: Marathon Bungie is back with their sci-fi extraction shooter. It has a distinct art style that looks incredible, but here is the catch: zero single-player campaign. In this economy? It’s a bold move. It will either be the next Destiny or dead by April.
March 19: Crimson Desert We have been watching trailers for this game since what feels like the Stone Age. It looks like The Witcher took steroids. It promises massive scale, mercenary management, and shiny graphics that will absolutely melt my new 5070 Ti.
April: The Vaporware Returns
April 24: Pragmata Do you remember that trailer from 2020 with the spaceman and the little girl on the moon? Capcom delayed it so many times we thought it was a hallucination. Well, it has a release date. I still have no idea what the gameplay is, and quite frankly, I don’t think Capcom does either. I will be playing it day one.
May: The Name’s Bond (Finally)
May 27: Project 007: First Light IO Interactive (the geniuses behind Hitman) were supposed to drop this in March, but they bumped it to May. Honestly? Good. This is the first James Bond game in ages that isn’t just “Call of Duty in a tuxedo.” Expect social stealth, gadgets, and hopefully the ability to throw a briefcase at a henchman’s head.
June: The “Switch 2” Summer
June is usually reserved for E3 (RIP), but this year it’s launch season for the big guns.
June 12: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond It exists. It’s real. We are finally playing it. Nintendo needs a killer app for the Switch 2 that isn’t Mario, and Samus is carrying that weight.
June 26: Death Stranding 2: On The Beach Hideo Kojima returns to confuse us all. Norman Reedus is back, the baby is back (I think?), and there is a guitar-wielding villain that shoots lightning. It’s a “walking simulator” where you fight the terrain, and I will inevitably play 80 hours of it while complaining the entire time.
The Verdict
The first half of 2026 is looking like a mix of “Finally!” and “What is happening?”. My advice? Grab Code Vein 2 now to tide you over, save your money for Resident Evil in February, and pray that Crimson Desert is actually optimized for PC.
